Human Strata is built on one claim: connection is the substrate.
Everything you care about runs on it. Your work. Your leadership. Your partnership with AI.
A life accumulates layers: knowledge, conditioning, roles, masks. Underneath them sits a hot core, the artist, the human who longs to be known. The layers are a life lived. Mistake them for yourself and the disconnection sets in.
You feel the disconnection as an unsettled hum. Any answer you want is one search away, yet no one is there to think it through with you, to whom you can turn and share your discovery. The digital rooms are full of people yet the connection is thin. Something in you says: I want more.
The way back is self-awareness. It is essential, in the oldest sense of the word: essentia, being. Name your patterns, drop the masks you no longer need, and connection returns wherever you turn. Lead from it and people shine. Sell from it and trust follows. Meet AI from it and the machine becomes a mirror, showing you the human it will never replace.

What you’ll find here
Essays on finding the human underneath the layers a life accumulates: self-awareness, connection, conscious leadership, and working with AI human-first.
Two substantive essays a month, with shorter Notes in between. Some pieces are excavations: the patterns, the masks, the quiet you’ve been missing. Some are field notes from the build: working with AI as a partner while staying the orchestrator, the director, the judgment in the room. On AI I hold the honest edges: no hype, no doom, and a clear eye on who gains and who pays.
Who writes it
I’m Tim Adams. For 27 years I played the smartest person in the room. Then I lost the room. Now I write about what's left when the performance falls away: self-knowledge, conscious leadership, and the friction that makes us sharp.
The layoff came with AI cited as the reason. Instead of getting bitter, I went and found out what AI is. Eleven months later I design agentic systems, lead from the inner work, and write from both. AI has driven me to be more human, not less. The essays here are the record.
In its first month, this writing reached sixteen thousand people.
